Planetary Deities .. Agni (fire), Varuna (water), and Subrahmanya (son of Lord Siva, after Ganesha). Indra, Sachi Devi (the spouse of Lord Indra), and Maha Vishnu and Brahma are the ruling gods of the seven planets in their respective orders.

Based on which of the two—the natal ascendant lord or the navamsa ascendant lord—is stronger, the child’s name can be chosen with the same beginning letter as above. For instance, if Mars is more powerful, the name’s initial sound could be guttural, fitting for the ruling god. The deity in this instance is Subrahmanya. moreover, the name may be Guha or Kumara. A malefic planet positioned in a star will release its negative energy in the Dasha associated with that star. For instance, if Ketu is located in the ninth house in Kritika, it will release its negative energy related to fatherhood in the Sun’s Dasa, which is associated with Kritika. Hence, a sacrifice to the Fire God will drive out any potential evil. Alternatively, Lord Ganesa representing Ketu may also be pleased suitably.
THE PLANETS’ SEX. Saturn and Mercury are neutral planets. The Sun, Mars, and Jupiter are male, and the Moon and Venus are female.
FIRST CLASS COMPOUNDS. The Pancha Bhootas—fire, earth, ether, water, and air—are ruled by Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn in that order.
PLANETARY CASTES: Venus and Jupiter are owned by the Brahmins. The Moon and Mercury are part of the commercial community, but the Sun is a royal planet. The fourth caste of Sudras is ruled by Saturn.
The satwik planets are the luminaries; the rajasik planets are Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury; the tamasik planets are Mars and Saturn. Notes: The native’s temperament will be influenced by the planets’ Satwa, Rajas, and Tamasik natures.
